Hi Doug,
You're welcome. I have a copy of McGoldrick's book, dog eared and
coffee stained. I keep going back to it. You might want to checkout,
The Ancestor Syndrome: Transgenerational Psychotherapy and Hidden
Links in the Family Tree by Anne Schutzenberger. Loved it.
Also Ed lynch and Dan gates have a DVD out on Individual/figure
constellations. Ed's website is, www.systemicinstitute.com.
All the best,

Thank you William, I have the DVD you refer to with Jacob and
Siglinde's
work. I was very privileged about four years ago to have Siglinde do
my
constellation with the dolls in Melbourne. The outcome for me with
that doll
constellation was profound and has an ongoing effect that keeps on
developing for me. The way Siglinde worked was quite different to
what I had
been doing, and being the client at the time I was within the
experience
rather than looking on and learning. I have continue to practice doll
constellations much the same as live work and interviewing the dolls
through
the awareness that comes from the client and myself and some times the
partner of the client who is present in the session to know what is
happening for each representative (the dolls) and it becomes like the
experience of having mats or marker or shoes on the floor and moving
into
the place of the various reps while all of the other reps are in their
positions. Movements are achieved simple by asking has the rep an
inclination to move and then slowly moving the doll or dolls while
watching
and listening to the client and self. I also experiment with
repositioning
the dolls for creating order and providing generational support etc.
in
working toward resolution. Fact and resolution dialogues between
reps can be
just observed by the client, but it seems more useful for clients to
say
various sentences when the content is their statement eg a statement
of
order like, "you are my mother, I am your child".
I will have to spend much more time viewing Siglinde's work to
understand
properly how she works because I know the power of what has happened
for me
as a result of the doll constellation she did for me. In the
meantime I have
been getting very good outcomes for my clients in the way I have been
practicing. The work comes to me quite naturally because I am a
systemic
family therapist and I use genograms that I develop further as
sociograms
and ecograms. If you are not familiar with this way of working a
text that
will help is a W.W. Norton & Co publication of McGoldrick, Gerson, &
Shellenberger entitled, Genograms, Assessment and Intervention. My
experience of Siglinde's work with me was like setting up my whole
genogram
rather than setting up the initial setting of a live workshop that
reveals
the initial stage of the entanglement. I have yet to understand many
things
concerning Siglinde work and must spend more time viewing the
DVD. Doug

Hi Hania,
Jacob and Siglinde Schneider have a DVD out from an intensive they did
2 years ago. In it Siglinde--who is a master in doll/figure
constellations--does some in depth work with clients. I believe the
DVD is available from Carl Auer.

It's very interesting topic - about transformation of knowing
fields, as I
understand.
I have no experience with using dolls in constellation but I've
heard a
little about it.
If anyone could give me some links where to find experts and
articles about
dolls in constellation, I'd be thankful.
I'm very curious about how facilitators doing both types (workshops
with a
group of people and face-to-face sessions with dolls in
constellation)
compare these works.

Hi doug,
yes i've done similar to what you did and had very similar
experience with
it - that is that it felt right to set it up 'live', that the
representatives confirmed it and that the patient 'got it'
viscerally a lot
more than they had in the clinic with seeing it set out with the
dolls -
doing it again with people and placing the patient in the
constellation
setting there seemed to crystallise or reconfirm or make more solid
what had
been previously a somewhat intellectual understanding (which is why
i had
suggested we do it again in the two instances i'm thinking about
right now).
i'm sure janne martinengo does stuff like this too, i seem to
remember her
putting up stuff in the groups that had been previously from single
sessions
with clients using probably not dolls as i think she doesn't work
with dolls
but individual work and then solidifying or rehashing it in a group
scenario
- much more powerful in some cases. but you'd have to check with
her - its
been a while since i'vve seen her work and i may have
misremembered. i think
she is in this group or i could give you her email off line if you
want to
email me off line (as she does a lot of work in australia where you
are)
cheers, sounds like you're doing good constellating stuff
love to all

Dear Chris, I had been encouraging my client to attend my family
constellation workshop which was only a couple of weeks away as an
introduction to live constellation work rather than going ahead
with a doll constellation on an issue that she was very urgentfamiliar
about. My
sense was that she was ready to constellate the issue and she was
with working with the dolls because she had done a dollwith
constellation
me about three years previous on a different issue and that hadissue
been very
useful for her. I went with the client's urgency and constellated
her
using the dolls in a private therapy session. This went well, but Ithought
the impact of seeing this work live would be even more useful.permission,
Having the
understanding that we don't re-do (re-constellate) the same
issue, I
suggested that the client come to the workshop and that with her
I bring the photo of the resolution constellation with the dollswe
and that
could set that up live so she could both see it live and thenher
stand in
place to experience it live. She agreed to this proposition withachieve
the
additional offer on her part of supporting my workshop and the
others
attending by being an active participant, which was helpful to me to
a good sized group to work with.and
Her energy to set up her resolution constellation was strong on
the day
it has a completely authentic feel within the workshop. Ito
explained the
previous work that had been done privately in my clinic using the
dolls
the group. I then set up the resolution constellation with thethe
dolls in
centre of the group on the floor using the photo to ensure I chosesame
the
colour dolls and the same order was reproduced. I asked my clientshe
would
like me to choose the live representative and to just set it up.the
She said
that she would like to choose the reps and have me place them. I
placed
people by pointing to the place they should stand rather thanthem
placing
as a seeker does in the beginning of a constellation. Having setclient
up the
resolution constellation I interviewed the representatives while my
witnessed from her chair in the holding circle. The representativescomments
affirmed what a complete resolution had been reached using thean
dolls but
added an element of hearing the experience of each rep as they
stood in
their places. I invited my client to then stand in her place in the
constellation. This had a profoundly deepening effect for her to
the
resolution.
There were some very positive outcomes from this experiment.(I
call this
experiment because I had not done this or never witnessed settingif
up a
resolution with dolls to a live situation before, and I thought
this was
authentically following the principle of not re-constellating the
same
issue). For the people in the group who were new to constellation
work it
served as a sort of warm up experience without all of the more
stressful
stages of a constellation. For me it allowed me to follow an idea
that
seemed really authentic and to validate it by testing in a live
workshop
situation. I am feeling confident to do something similar in the
future
the need arises because I quite often use doll constellations withinto
my
clients in private therapy sessions. For the group, the woman
entered
the workshop as a member and she represented in other
constellations very
fully. I hope this is useful information and I would like to hear
from
others their comments and experiences if they have done anything
similar.
