I believe that day of the dead has roots in a 3 day celebration...october 31,
nov 1 and 2.
It is a joyous celebration, just prior to the holiday season....with so many
facets that fit into our work: children making family alters to invite the
spirit of dead children to return, a day to invite adult spirits to gather and
enjoy their once favorite foods, and a cemetery visit on the third day.
I think these rituals fit well with Family Constellations...and the themes
would be easy to expand.
Eimer's suggestion of Winter Solstice feels equally compelling..another
powerful reminder that the darkness is followed by light.
To attract larger audiences, it makes sense to me to draw on what our new
"others" may already feel positive or curious about.
Day of the Dead and Solstice both seem compelling.
Thanks for thinking of this Alison.
With love,
Sharon Ruvane

I was not suggesting Halloween, I was suggesting Day of the Dead but
recognizing that it would be difficult to pull this day off in the US as
Halloween overlaps Day of the Dead.
Bert's birthday is a great idea and one I can rally behind, but I have
concerns about it being 1 week before Christmas and during the holiday season
for many other religions.
Love to you all, Jack

Hi All,
Some information:
December 16 is Bert's birthday.
October 12 will be Columbus Day
October 31 is Halloween (yes, those are very North American, not
international)
Eimear, your suggestion regarding solstice also opens up June 21 and the
equinoxes for consideration as well.
Other thoughts?
Thanks!
Alison

The suggestion was for an International Constellation Day. I think this is a

Some of the dates being suggested are only USA oriented. So if you want an
"American Constellation Day" then that may be appropriate, but please do not
then call it an International Day.
Also, any existing "event" is going to be loaded depending on what it is.
Can we not pick a neutral day - or perhaps something somehow related to the
Constellations.

And what day is Columbus Day, Karin?

Hi Alison, Jack, and David,
wondering about the moment of the confluence of ancestors and all that
resulted from this, I am inclined to suggest the so-called Columbus Day. The
U.S. ad maybe all of the Americas were deeply ancestrally affected by the
moment Columbus is said to have sunk his sword into the soil to claim her as
his (or so I read a piece of the lore somewhere).
This day would give us all, citizens, immigrants and people otherwise living
here or elsewhere, the opportunity to reflect back to the decisive moment
when the Americas forever, and quickly, changed.
Warmly
Karin

Ya, that's a good idea for America, what day would symbolize the day of the
dead for the whole world? I think of 9/11 or the beginning of world war 2.
Or maybe earth day?
At any rate, I am in.

Happy Solstice to you all!
I have been fantasizing for a while about the idea of having an
"International Constellations Day", so I figured I'd just put it out there
and see if we can make it happen.
The idea is that we choose a day - would love suggestions as to the best
month/day (week?) for this to happen - and we offer free (?) events to
introduce a greater audience to constellation work. We can create a vision
for how to publicize the day, but I am noticing for myself that 2015 feels
like a year of expanding the audience of the work, and I personally am
feeling a lot of creativity and excitement for this.
Let me know what you think - and for all those who say yes - let's do it!
With a Sunny Heart,
Alison
