| 10-Ride, Access-a-Ride paper tickets to be accepted through 2023
RTD will be accepting all 2020 and 2021 10-Ride and Access-a-Ride paper tickets
as valid fare payment through 2023. This is to accommodate customers who have
purchased tickets before and during the pandemic and have not yet returned to
riding RTD. RTD’s ongoing fare study and equity analysis is expected to result
in fare changes taking effect in 2023, and as such, all paper ticket books
issued in 2022 will also be accepted as valid fare payment through 2023. The
validity period of mobile tickets will remain unchanged. |

| Board of Directors approves purchase of battery-electric buses
The 17 40-foot battery-electric buses, to be introduced in early 2023, are
intended to replace existing diesel buses that have been in service more than
13 years and have traveled an average of more than 600,000 miles under rigorous
use. They will be placed into service from an RTD Bus Operations division in
Aurora. RTD’s existing electric buses – its 36 shuttles – constitute one of the
largest zero-emission, battery-electric-powered fleets in the United States.
The agency is committed to sustaining the planet by exploring ways to expand
its electric bus fleet and reduce its carbon footprint. |

| Upgrades made to 15/15L stops on Colfax
RTD has completed upgrades to 36 shelters at 34 bus stops to improve transit
travel time and enhance the customer experience along a 9-mile stretch of
Colfax from Broadway in Denver to I-225 in Aurora. The project was brought
about by a partnership with the Federal Transit Administration; the Colorado
Department of Transportation; the Denver Regional Council of Governments; the
city and county of Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure;
and the city of Aurora. A new video on the 15L improvement project page has
more information about this important project. |
