Something like that. I think they have to send it to Microsoft to get the
drivers they write certified.

Yeah, it's generally safe. I *think* the purpose of the certification is to
prove (I can't think of the word I really want, not quite guarantee) that
loading the drivers won't crash the system. As long as you're using some MS
drivers or ones from the people who made the hardware, you're safe ("safe"
maybe? ;) )
