No re-downloading, Just enter it into a website and within the next few days the software will see your paid. You will be covered under the 90 day trial till the client catchs up. I do not like NetGear. I moved back to Linksys a while back. Go to www.linksys.com and pick any of the wireless routers. If you do not move files wirelessly alot and wanna save money get the 54g one. Else try SpeedBooster or Pre-N. Go to www.buy.com should be the cheapest. Use the $20 off a $50 purchase on the router to save even more with Google Checkout. It is re-usable so if you purchase another item $30 or more ($10 off $30) purchase each item seperatly. Most cases shippig is free. Coupon is re-usable. YOu may get unclucky and it could ship your package through UPS then UPS hands it to USPS and gets there a tad slower. Also too from what my friend says they help you setup security with a WPA key and stuff. Some just turn on wireless without security. Try the Linksys WRT54G for a good basic one. Standard wired is 100Mbs (1000Mbs will soon be standard) and this one is 54mbs. If you need 100MBs go with the WRT54GX4 or the end. Also, the 54g will not do as well through walls if your going across floors or the router is at one end not in thecenter of the house, you may want the GX4 or the Pre-N. Hehe...I think I will stick with this group and stay away from the Best Buy Geeks! They want $261.00 to "clean" my pc up! I could replace it for that!(Minus the flat screen and peripherals) I have the windows live one care firewall,so I'll let it do its job. Got bigger probs now!!! I'll start another thread for them, lol, and hopefully Eric won't regret inviting me here!<grin>I may just drive ya'll nuts! Thank's to you all...this lil housewife is finding the pc world very intimidating and pulling hairs with it lately. Geek Squad - what a joke that organization of misfits is - most "techs" are newly graduated high school kids with no experience other than their own at-home goofing around on the internet. They are based out of Best Buy stores which gets them business but the only one the "gets the business" is the paying customer. I've been doing this kind of work since the early 80's and yet my rates are lower than theirs yet their "techs" get paid roughly 1.5 to 2 times minimum wage if they are lucky or are in an area with high cost of living. The Geek Squad City depot they just built in Hillview, KY is even a bigger joke. If a firewall is your concern you should use a software based one if on dialup and a standalone machine. Most hardware products are made for networking. -----Original Message----- From: computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Surfin Suzy Sent: Wednesday, December 06, 2006 1:56 PM To: computertalkshop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [CTS] Re: Should I have a router?
