This is a good list-- very helpful indeed -- Nobody will rip you off here they
will in fact save you money if you need hardware and if you are stuck with
window problems and software they are quite knowledgable too willing to help
out and they say it how it is <G>Jackie MacWhirter

Hehe...I think I will stick with this group and stay away from the Best
Buy Geeks! They want $261.00 to "clean" my pc up! I could replace it for
that!(Minus the flat screen and peripherals)
I have the windows live one care firewall,so I'll let it do its job.
Got bigger probs now!!! I'll start another thread for them, lol, and
hopefully Eric won't regret inviting me here!<grin>I may just drive ya'll nuts!
Thank's to you all...this lil housewife is finding the pc world very
intimidating and pulling hairs with it lately.
      Suzy

Geek Squad - what a joke that organization of misfits is - most "techs"
are newly graduated high school kids with no experience other than their own
at-home goofing around on the internet. They are based out of Best Buy stores
which gets them business but the only one the "gets the business" is the paying
customer. I've been doing this kind of work since the early 80's and yet my
rates are lower than theirs yet their "techs" get paid roughly 1.5 to 2 times
minimum wage if they are lucky or are in an area with high cost of living.

The Geek Squad City depot they just built in Hillview, KY is even a
bigger joke.

If a firewall is your concern you should use a software based one if on
dialup and a standalone machine. Most hardware products are made for
networking.

I went to 7 stores and then asked the "Geek Squad" at best Buy(before
I got this reply) and they all said the same...
