As far as Windows OS is concerned. I did find out that after an upgrade (before WMP9), WMP phoned home quite a bit! :-( When I installed WMP9, it was like a teenage daughter. Constantly online doing something, I had or have no idea what it was doing, so I went into Outpost, and blocked it! That could be yet another solution as well Donna. Get Outpost or Zone Alarm may serve the same purpose. I prefer Outpost though. >-----Original Message----- >From: computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >[mailto:computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Cook, Donna >(Donna)** CTR ** >Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 11:30 AM >To: 'computertalkshop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' >Subject: [CTS] Re: Question about 2K and SP3 and XP and SP1 > > > > >That's why I asked if disabling the auto update feature was >enough...I guess >so. > >Thanks, > >Donna > >-----Original Message----- >From: Hal Brown [mailto:hal@xxxxxxxx] >Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 1:55 PM >To: computertalkshop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [CTS] Re: Question about 2K and SP3 and XP and SP1 > > >On 12:53 PM 9/20/2002 -0400 EST Cook, Donna (Donna)** CTR ** said: > > > >>Friend of mine works in a Hospital, and has been told that organizations >>subject to HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act >of >>1996) may not install SP3 because of the privacy issue that the features >>below introduce.
