I've opened a PR for issue #852:

And this one definitely needs some eyes on it. It introduces a new module,
comixed-batch, which is going to eventually replace comixed-tasks as our
background processing system.
This first PR only introduces the new submodule and adds a single batch
process, for doing the comic import (load comic contents, mark blocked
pages, read comic metadata, update the database) and my initial impression
is that it's quite a bit faster than the old TaskManager based process. I
haven't done any AB testing yet since I wanted to get some eyes on this and
some feedback.
So please take some time to look it over and let me know what you think we
can do to improve this or if it's good to start down this path.
