Before I stopped practicing law, I always dressed in a casual style. It helps
that my office was in South Florida and I was tolerated, but I generally wore
jeans and a nice blouse. Sometimes, when I expected to have only paperwork in
the office, I would come in wearing jeans and t-shirt and running shoes --
sometimes resulting in meeting potential new clients in that attire.
I've met with clients in restaurants, but would not suggest having 4-way (or
other team) meetings in that environment. I share the feeling that you lose
confidentiality in it.
