Sorry about the last "response." I'm having computer issues (a ghost is
hitting send). UGH
Anyway . . . I wanted to add my two cents re: preserving the integrity of
the Collaborative Process and the dilution of the perception of the training
standards (alleged Collab cases with untrained professionals). I am
concerned
about the dilution of the process and what in some cases, appears to be a
desire for quantity over quality. I firmly believe that our clients deserve
the best from us, and that part of what makes us different is that we
recognize
that and have chosen to make the changes necessary to be able to represent
without a doubt that we are competent in the model we offer. To call a
process Collaborative that is actually something else is just wrong.
Likewise,
entering into a case and calling it Collaborative when the other person isn't
trained is also wrong. We owe the public more than that.

George Richardson's and David Vallerga's comments on Woody's Range of
Collaborative Models are very precise in their description of what, for me,
is vital to the growth of Collaborative Practice: careful attention to
preserving CP as a discipline in itself. I am concerned about presenting it
as one option in a range of models, at least some of which are not
themselves disciplines (such as "cooperative law"-nothing wrong with it at
all, but it is not a discipline nor is it Collaborative)all, but it is not
forward to speaking with you more in Toronto.
