Today in Miami-Dade County, our Chief Judge, Joseph Farina,signed the
administrative order:In Re: Authorizing The Collaborative Process Dispute
Resolution Model In The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. As president
of
the Collaborative Family Law Institute in Miami, Florida, this is an
exciting
step forward for collaborative practice. A copy of the order is attached.
I have been working for the past four years with another colleague to
have legislation passed and a rule approved by the Florida Supreme Court
but
the road is long and slow with many attorneys slowly coming around to find
favor in helping us to accomplish these goals. Attorney Harry Tindall told
me
that it takes years and years to have a Uniform Law passed so my patience
is
not yet exhausted.
I look forward to meeting many of you in Toronto. The weather there
will
be a welcome change from the "steamy sauna air" that greets me as I leave
for work each day! And I know the Forum will be terrific; each one always
is!
