A mental health provider is not required to "treat" problems. Our
obligation is better served by recognizing and helping people towards the
proper
referral. I agree with Pauline that it is imperative to be clear about the
service we are providing and that we are not providing therapy or treatment or
counseling. It is important that attorneys help us by not referring to us as
therapists or counselors, a frequent slip.
