AUSTRALIA SEEKS SHIFT TO ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBSAs part of an effort to reduce emissions of global warming causing greenhouse gases, Australia is set to become the first country to phase out incandescent bulbs for more energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). Malcolm Turnbull, Australian environment minister, said he would work to get rid of incandescent bulbs by 2010. Australia would be the first country to carry out such a plan, although legislators in California proposed a similar one last month.
