AUSTRALIA SEEKS SHIFT TO ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBSAs part of an effort to
reduce emissions of global warming causing greenhouse gases, Australia is set
to become the first country to phase out incandescent bulbs for more
energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
Malcolm Turnbull, Australian environment minister, said he would work to get
rid of incandescent bulbs by 2010. Australia would be the first country to
carry out such a plan, although legislators in California proposed a similar
one last month.
