Thanks Catherine!
Very valuable info for all of us to share with folks constantly asking us about
access to our islands!

Hi Catherine.
Thanks for this.
The backcountry camping issue of leaving trash and human waste behind is a
real issue. It is a much larger problem among the fishing population,
however, as many go ashore to do their business and leave a lot a waste
behind. Coaches Prietos is one obvious example. I have no idea who cleans
this up.
The Santa Rosa harbors seem to be much less effected.

I didn’t have all the answers about beach camping. Derek Lohuis sent me the
link to this site. It is useful for anyone who gets questions about back
country or “beach” camping on Santa Rosa Island.
Lee and I were on the island this past weekend, and were asked a lot of
questions about this. Even if you don’t lead hikes there or do overnight
volunteering it’s good to know.
