Hi Catherine.
Thanks for this.
The backcountry camping issue of leaving trash and human waste behind is a
real issue. It is a much larger problem among the fishing population,
however, as many go ashore to do their business and leave a lot a waste
behind. Coaches Prietos is one obvious example. I have no idea who cleans
this up.
The Santa Rosa harbors seem to be much less effected.

I didn’t have all the answers about beach camping. Derek Lohuis sent me*G.H. Hank Mitchel *
the link to this site. It is useful for anyone who gets questions about
back country or “beach” camping on Santa Rosa Island.
Lee and I were on the island this past weekend, and were asked a lot of
questions about this. Even if you don’t lead hikes there or do overnight
volunteering it’s good to know.
