Hi all,
Please see the reply from the commercial officer covering for Alex Nix. There
is no piling scheduled for tomorrow morning, but ‘some use of plant’. Not sure
what that means.

Subject: RE: Jackhammering behind my garden
Good afternoon,
I have checked my colleague’s workload and have confirmed that there will be
works overnight on Saturday 25th July 2020 as per the attached newsletter I
expect you have received. My colleague has advised me no piling is to be
undertaken on this occasion, but there will likely be some use of plant.
If you do not already have it the helpline number for the Spencer Group is
available on the attached newsletter and you can also e-mail:
mailbox@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, should you wish to speak to a member of the
team regarding the project.
A reminder that the Out of Hours Service is available on 0300 303 8389.
Kind regards,

Dear Sir or Madam,
Please see below my email to Alex. Unfortunately due to the consistent
jackhammering noise, I have had to call in sick today.

Dear Alex,
Thank you for your reply. It is appreciated.
This morning again they are jackhammering into the ground. This is making me
ill and I cannot work. Again, this is not just 'some noise'. GTR and Spencer
do not inform of of anything going on behind our gardens and they are
certainly not minimising disturbance. This work is underhanded by GTR as they
say they are not working on the 'train wash' when they patently are. They
were digging behind my house yesterday, which is where the plant facility for
the train wash is to be located.
What will be the nature of the work this Sunday morning? You will recall that
'grounds' work turned out to be pile driving that could be heard across
Cambridge. If you can supply me with that information it would be helpful.

Dear Ms Mozzillo-Howell,
Thank you for your email.
I am sorry to read that you feel that you are being unduly disturbed by the
ongoing work at Cambridge sidings. I can also appreciate that it is
particularly disturbing at the moment if you are also working from home as
many of us are and in combination with the noise from the overnight work that
has taken place recently.
Some noise though is unfortunately inevitable from the kind of work that is
currently being undertaken. However contractors must employ best practicable
means to minimise disturbance as far as is reasonably possible and I have
reiterated to them the importance of working with residents to keep them
informed as the work on the site progresses.
Best regards,
Alex

Dear Alex,
Please see my email to Chris Penn and Spencer Group, including my tweet with
video. The noise and dust coming from the jackhammering is impacting on my
heath and wellbeing, and I'm sure that of my neighbours as well.
How are residents supposed to live and work with this noise and environmental
pollution?
Best wishes,
Elizabeth

Dear Chris, Diane,
I'm writing to complain of the insistent jackhammering behind my garden. This
is making it impossible to do my job, let alone think. There is also dust
coming from the concrete -this comes into my home. Please see and hear:

Once again this displays a total lack of consideration on GTR's part. I am
still working from home as are many others down Great Eastern Street.
Is this going on all day?
Elizabeth
