Thank you for looking into my complaint.
We never have any information from Spencer or GTR as to what they will be doing
behind our gardens, despite the city noise officer Alex Nix asking GTR and
Spencer to communicate to us what works are being done. I quote from his last
email to me
'I have reiterated to them [contractors] the importance of working with
residents to keep them informed as the work on the site progresses.'
What you mean by 'Permanent Way' I do now know, but the work being conducted is
obviously work on the train wash facility and all that goes with it.
Unfortunately, because the jackhammering continued this morning, and my feeling
so ill at this constant disturbance, I've had to call in sick to work - even
though being at home I shouldn't have to!

After our telephone conversation yesterday morning I did ask the site team to

from redundant services for future ducting and drainage runs for the
Permanent Way works, which is what caused the noisy work.
I do apologise for any distress and disruption this work caused.

Subject: Jackhammering behind my garden
Dear Chris, Diane,
I'm writing to complain of the insistent jackhammering behind my garden.
This is making it impossible to do my job, let alone think. There is also
dust coming from the concrete -this comes into my home. Please see and hear:
Once again this displays a total lack of consideration on GTR's part. I am
still working from home as are many others down Great Eastern Street.
Is this going on all day?
