This also might be a source of trouble - Varicad kept on crashing until I installed the licence correctly. > > For the IGES export, it will be fixed shortly, so I was told. > > I like the new interface very much; printing is a breeze - wow! > > I like the new interface also, have not tried printing yet. messing around > with the 3D and solids. > > > > Now if only I could read 3D IGES and draw more complex surfaces... > what are you using to create them? varicad? other? I cannot do that with VariCAD reasonably. I use Linux version of Realsoft3D but I must admit that 1 - I still am on a very steep learning curve and cannot do much with it apart from some good ray-tracing of VariCAD generated IGES files. 2 - R3D seems to be more leaning towards the free hand 3D modelling than for precise mechanical development. However I am quite sure it can be used to do exactly that. To give you an idea of what we do and what I need R3D for (but I'd rather use Varicad), have a look at http://www.slot.it/eng/Audi.html . The image in the center (the raytraced one) ia a Catia developed project, loaded as iges into R3D and raytraced. A surface like that of tha Audi car body cannot be made with Varicad. I use Varicad + R3D in what you can see here: http://www.slot.it/eng/chassis.html Regards Maurizio -- Galileo Engineering Via Zacchetti 6 I-42100 Reggio Emilia Ph/Fax +390522920496 http://www.slot.it Slot.it is a trademark of Galileo Engineering
