that the jab is saving lives is not obviously and outrageously stupid. It
is not obviously true either.
The first part of this appears to be a false assumption. The
purpose of vaccinating people younger than 50 is not so much to
prevent them from dying as it is to prevent them from getting infected
and then infecting those more likely to die, that is, those over 50, etc.
Since the younger generally have a lower death rate from the disease,
immunizing them against it would not be expected to lower the death
rate as much as the older. That's not the main purpose of it.
