I've been in planes that have dropped several hundred feet in bad turbulence
but never climbed like that. My best guess is that I flew into a waterspout,
which are pretty common around here. Flying in hurricane conditions is also a
challenge in FSX

This seems pretty weird, actually. From what I’ve read planes rarely move
more than, say, forty feet in even really bad turbulence. Guess it’s a flaw
in the physics system.

Well, did I just have a crazy flight a little bit ago or what. I was flying
a Beech Bonanza from Baton Rouge to New Orleans Lakefront, and I found some
seriously bad turbulence. The first hit took me from 3000ft to 4300ft, and
the second hit took me up to almost 6000ft. It was fun getting back down to
3000ft because until I cleared the turbulence completely, the plane really
did not want to behave.
