Speaking of sound levels, whenever I go in to the FSX options, I notice
something odd with the sliders. They are always reading as being at 0
percent whenever I relaunch FSX, so I have no idea where the levels
actually are. Same with the graphics, traffic density, and weather sliders.

Jordan,
Perform the checklists and get to the place where the aircraft is holding short.
Here's the set up procedure I use:
Start a short test recording at that point.
Say the phrase, "Get local weather."
After report is given, say, "We have the weather."
Say the phrase, "Get distance to destination."
After distance is given, place FSX in the pause or minimized mode and check the recording.
Consider YOUR MICROPHONE voice recording level as the reference level.
Set your PC playback level (i.e. Michelle/Mike level) relative to the reference.
Set your FSX ambient and engine sound levels relative to the reference.
Set your FSX ATC sound levels relative to the reference.
Repeat the procedure as needed.
On subsequent recording that employ different aircraft, you will only need to repeat the process and set your FSX ambient and engine sound levels relative to the reference. This assumes that you have not altered the PC sound playback levels at some point.
I hope this helps.

What sound settings volume wise are People using for FSX? I seem
to not have mine set right so people can hear me when I am
recording videos.
Thanks,
