Hey Everyone,
Sorry for any mixup with the SolidWorks install. Below are instructions one
how to correctly download SolidWorks 2014 with the licenses BU provides:
You can get Solidworks free of charge with a student license.
Fill this form out to get your Solidworks student account: http://www.
solidworks.com/sw/education/SDL_form.html
Take a look at the PDF on how to get it installed/register. On the form,
select 2014-2015 instead of 2013-2014. (otherwise Solidworks will stop
working in a few weeks)
Once you start installing, use the serial number in the TXT file.
If you still need help, let me know.
*IF YOU HAVE AN OLD SOLIDWORKS AND WANT TO KEEP IT:*
When installing, you will be asked if you would like to Upgrade or make a
New Install. Select New Install. Later it will say you have a
Solidworks license
on your computer and it will ask you to transfer it, say NO.
This will result in Solidworks 2014-2015 being installed without conflict
to your previous Solidworks install.
Let me know if you have any issues, I'm more than happy to help out.
Best,

Hey Jeremy,
a couple questions:
1) I'm a little unclear on the Solidworks download. The BU licensing site
makes it seem as though I need to email the engineering department to
obtain a research license if I want to download onto a computer not owned
by BU. Furthermore, I was unable to locate a download option on the
solidworks website; it seems they wish to send a DVD. What am I missing
here? Note: I have had a couple beers.
2) Would you mind sending me a link to the BURPG Google Drive?
Gracias! Hope your summer's going well.
Julia

Subject: [burpg] BURPG CAD Standards and Templates
To: "burpg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx" <burpg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hey everyone,
Hope your summers are going well. As things begin to pick up with the Mk
VI, this is as good a time as ever to review and introduce some CAD
standards for our parts.
1) *ALL parts must be designed in Solidworks 2014. *You may download
Solidworks 2014 with BU's software licensing.
http://collaborate.bu.edu/engit/SoftwareLicensing/
2) For BURPG parts, please use the templates provided on google drive for
parts, drawings, assemblies, etc. Instructions on how to install templates
can be found on Google Drive /BURPG/Reference/CAD Standards/.
3) If you're unsure on how to number & name your parts, the Mk VI part
naming convention can also be found on Google Drive /Mk
VI/_Documentation/Documentation and Standards.
If you have any questions or are unsure of anything at all, feel free to
let me know.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
