Dear All
See below, although I can’t imagine we will be using the boat just yet. When
we are eventually able to get out please bear in mind that I have not paid our
harbour fees for this year. I will do so once we are ready to start using the
boat again.

Subject: Covid 19 - update on our operations
Dear customer,
I have received this from Harry Gregory, the Deputy Harbour Master:
DEFRA have this morning issued clarification on green spaces which indicates
that boating on the water is now permitted in England (
<https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-spaces?fbclid=IwAR14m70W-axMOSBDSzvN6nvOcl1xbPAGEoZ5i2bxAnVHfjK8b8-LbGC2afk>
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-spaces?fbclid=IwAR14m70W-axMOSBDSzvN6nvOcl1xbPAGEoZ5i2bxAnVHfjK8b8-LbGC2afk).
Their statement is as follows: “All forms of water sports practiced on open
waterways, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, surfing,
paddle-boarding and the use of privately-owned motorised craft (in line with
the guidance issued by the relevant navigation authority) are allowed. You can
continue to use towpaths for walking, running and cycling, being mindful of
other users and people living in boats along the water.”
However, the BPA and UKHHMA are still actively seeking clarification if
slipways and marina type operations can be safely opened as government
officials have previously indicated to us that marinas are to be treated the
same as caravan parks (with second homes etc). At the moment the advice is that
caravan parks should remain closed. We hope to see guidance from the Department
for Culture, Media and Sport this week and the DfT last night indicated that
decision on marinas will be made by them.
In light of the above, we see no reason why you can’t access your boat.
Currently boat parks are available to access between the hours of 8am and 5pm
daily. This will increase to 6pm in the months of June, July and August.
Please note that our slipway will effectively remain closed until 1st June 2020
at the earliest and so should you wish to use your boat, please contact Thomas
via email Thomas.grubb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
<mailto:Thomas.grubb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> to make arrangements and he
will facilitate this.
Should you use your boat, please ensure you pay your Harbour Dues. We are
working with the Harbour Board on keeping the river safe so will be advising of
usage.
Our fuelling station will re-open from this Saturday, 16th May 2020 during
office hours.
As normal, our hours will be extended to 6pm for the months of June, July and
August.
As always, the office remains manned daily so please do call us if you have any
queries.
Let’s work together to keep the marina a safe area for everyone. We look
forward to seeing you here soon.
Kind regards,
Emma
