Hi Jules,

Did you see the message from BSAC?

A special meeting of the British Diving Safety Group (BDSG) was held online on
Tuesday 12 May 2020 that included medical experts, diver training organisations
and supporting industry representatives. The purpose of the meeting was to
determine how the latest changes in government guidance may apply to the UK
diving community.

The consensus of the meeting was that the infrastructure to safely support
diving activity is still lacking and requires more time to re-establish itself.
Contamination risks remain too high during the preparation for diving and could
put undue pressure on businesses who must operate safely and within the law.
More importantly, should emergency support be necessary, this would place an
unacceptably high burden on rescue services and medical treatment facilities at
a time when they are already stretched.

Consequently, the view of all concerned was that whilst we respect everyone’s
desire to return to diving activities as soon as possible, it is too early to
restart diving in the UK. We should be considerate of the impact any activity
could have until such a time when the supporting infrastructure can safely
operate at full capacity and in line with government guidance.

With regret, we must encourage divers to act responsibly and not go diving,
however safe it may seem to do so. We will continue to work together to provide
suitable guidance to support a planned return to safe diving as and when the
time is right.

Further BDSG consultations are set to take place to coincide when any further
changes are made to UK government guidance.

Dai Atkins
BSAC National Diving Officer

But yes up for any diving!🤣😷

Cheers

Paul

Hi Andrew. Could we go out from June 1st diving if we have face masks on from
the time we arrive, the trip out and back and the clean down. Only removing
them to dive. Only four on the boat at any one time?

Dear All

See below, although I can’t imagine we will be using the boat just yet.  When
we are eventually able to get out please bear in mind that I have not paid our
harbour fees for this year.  I  will do so once we are ready to start using the
boat again.

Subject: Covid 19 - update on our operations

Dear customer,

I have received this from Harry Gregory, the Deputy Harbour Master:

DEFRA have this morning issued clarification on green spaces which indicates
that boating on the water is now permitted in England
(https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-spaces?fbclid=IwAR14m70W-axMOSBDSzvN6nvOcl1xbPAGEoZ5i2bxAnVHfjK8b8-LbGC2afk<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gov.uk%2Fgovernment%2Fnews%2Fcoronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-spaces%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR14m70W-axMOSBDSzvN6nvOcl1xbPAGEoZ5i2bxAnVHfjK8b8-LbGC2afk&data=02%7C01%7C%7C7f361df56b364024d4b408d7f75cb16b%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637249849788088761&sdata=jhEGGgcrfFv7p%2BBxuPjqBs2ptAfF%2BKW0HB%2BYZ11J%2F%2BU%3D&reserved=0>).
Their statement is as follows: “All forms of water sports practiced on open
waterways, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, surfing,
paddle-boarding and the use of privately-owned motorised craft (in line with
the guidance issued by the relevant navigation authority) are allowed. You can
continue to use towpaths for walking, running and cycling, being mindful of
other users and people living in boats along the water.”

However, the BPA and UKHHMA are still actively seeking clarification if
slipways and marina type operations can be safely opened as government
officials have previously indicated to us that marinas are to be treated the
same as caravan parks (with second homes etc). At the moment the advice is that
caravan parks should remain closed. We hope to see guidance from the Department
for Culture, Media and Sport this week and the DfT last night indicated that
decision on marinas will be made by them.

In light of the above, we see no reason why you can’t access your boat.
Currently boat parks are available to access between the hours of 8am and 5pm
daily. This will increase to 6pm in the months of June, July and August.

Please note that our slipway will effectively remain closed until 1st June 2020
at the earliest and so should you wish to use your boat, please contact Thomas
via email
Thomas.grubb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:Thomas.grubb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
to make arrangements and he will facilitate this.
Should you use your boat, please ensure you pay your Harbour Dues. We are
working with the Harbour Board on keeping the river safe so will be advising of
usage.

Our fuelling station will re-open from this Saturday, 16th May 2020 during
office hours.

As normal, our hours will be extended to 6pm for the months of June, July and
August.

As always, the office remains manned daily so please do call us if you have any
queries.
Let’s work together to keep the marina a safe area for everyone. We look
forward to seeing you here soon.

Kind regards,

Emma
