Hi all, I had about 3 hours to kill this afternoon so put some time in open/ 
agri areas of Bossier City quad. Activity was very slow in terms of diversity 
but the few HOLA, single LALO, Accipiters and piles of GTGR was interesting-

Comments:     1 observer, 3 hours, 9.3 miles. Cloudy/ foggy, 61 degrees, wind S 
10-12 beginning to cloudy, wind variable S at 14 ending. Birded disjunct 
locations of N Bossier City, keying mainly on open areas, with average of .5 
miles or greater between stops beginning w/ Viking Dr W of Airline + Cunningham 
property (off limits/ private) then skipping a ways N to portions of Benton, 
Cash Point, Lafitte, Dauphine, Audubon, Wemple, Old Brownlee and Airline Dr, 
before finally skipping S, then adding parking lot RBGU and GTGR preparing to 
go to roost at Walmart on Airline. Activity levels were very low in terms of 
diversity.

Rusty Blackbird  33     6 at 1:45 (3 ad m, 3f-t) on Viking, near 15 f RWBL 
along shallow ditch/ fencerow w/ large willows, C tallow, dense Roughleaf 
Dogwood and Campsis. Area very open except immediate location of birds- 
bordered on W by Rd, E by large pasture. 27 at 3:50 on Wemple in open area 
below somewhat enclosed canopy of  pecans/ baldcypress along Flat River- 
foraging near water's edge- w/ 4 f RWBL and 2 COGR.
Common Grackle  90     50,40
Great-tailed Grackle  90     ++. Noisy pre-roost gathering around 4 p.m. 
Perched on Walmart building + cars and shopping carts near building. Counted 80 
singly, then 10+ rose from parking lot between cars toward building- traffic 
bad- only brief stop. Approx a little over 1/3 ad males- rest fem-type. 
Observed group of 160 in plowed field along Viking just E of airline shortly 
before Christmas.
