BIRD STUDY GROUP
Took my wife to Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City this morning traveling north from
the Alexandria area. Spent a little time toward mid-day birding. Nothing
special: Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Turkey
Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Rock Pigeon, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Loggerhead
Shrike, Carolina Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Northern Mockingbird,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Song Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Northern Cardinal,
and House Sparrow.
However, I was pleased to note that the area where Willow Flycatcher and
Cassin's Sparrow and Grasshopper Sparrow and Warbling Vireo have been found to
nest in the past has not been impacted by the Margaritaville Casino.
Now, if only a Snowy Owl will set up in the area!
