A huge thank you to so many parents who turned up (and sang) at our Harvest
Festival. We were proud of our children who helped celebrate this special
event in our calendar. Thank you too for the gifts we received for Fox
Street Mission.

not wish your child to participate or your contact details have changed ,
please let the school office know in writing

Holiday Dates & New Attendance Procedure for requesting Holiday Leave during
Term Time

At a Governing Body meeting last week the governors decided to implement
changes to the process for requesting Annual Holiday Leave. With effect
from today, the procedure includes the following:

* the Headteacher retains the discretion whether to authorise leave
for up to 10 days.

* parents must write on the form why they need to take the holiday
leave, and why this cannot be taken during the normal holiday pattern.

* all holidays requested over 10 days will automatically be
unauthorised and will be referred to the Pupils and Curriculum Committee for
authorisation. Parents will be notified in writing of the committee?s
decision where this occurs.

All other matters relating to the attendance policy remain unchanged.

The Governing Body has considered carefully and agreed the holiday pattern
for 2008/9, providing in 2007/8 & 2008/9 the possibility for a 10 day
holiday during May with minimum need for Annual Holiday Leave. Please note
that parents may wish to know that the May 2007/8 holiday is not peak
charging period for most travel agents.

The holiday patterns for both 2007/8 and 2008/9 have been published and are
available from the foyer and are also on the school website:
http://www.broadoak.lancs.sch.uk/newsletters.htm

Broad Oak Care Club Holiday dates are already published for 2007/8 and will
be published shortly for 2008/9.
