A nestling Black Vulture is shown in a nest on Mountain View Road
in Johnson City, Washington County, TN, Tuesday afternoon. It has
just hatched from the broken egg shown at the right and the egg
to the left has been piped and the opening is shown at the top of
the wide end of the egg. It was in the process of hatching. The

mid afternoon.
The nest substrate is
on a bail of hay in a
very dark upper loft
corner of an abandoned
barn.
