5 Feb 2010 Redstone Subdivision Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN A winter roost of between 150 and 200 vultures is again, this year, present in the subdivision adjacent to Middlebrook Lake. While I did not get a count of each species, it was notable that Black Vultures were in significant numbers. Friday, under dark clouds at 4:30 p.m., they were flying into roost when I took this photo. The birds were going into tall rows of White Pines which had many years ago been planted at the back or along sides of the home lots. Nearly all of them attempted to land in the top one-third of each tree. Let's go birding . . . Wallace Coffey Bristol, TN
