Members of the Russell County Bird Club reported

today that they found at least one Brewster's Warbler

at Hampton Creek Cove Natural Area near Roan Mountain

in Carter County, TN Saturday, 9 May 2015, during the

club's highly successful day-long field trip in the

mountains of Northeast Tennessee. The Brewster's

is one of two hybrids resulting from the mating of

Golden-winged Warblers and Blue-winged Warblers.

The bird was color banded. The field party included

Peggy Herbert, Sheri Hiter, John Kelly, Daryl Owens,

Mike Sanders and Jerry Thornhill. The group had a

very impressive species total of 81 plus the Brewster's

Warbler. They believe this is likely a species record

for a Russell County Bird Club outing.
