Area Birders: The arrival of the frontal system and northern weather development brought four (4) Surf Scoters and a flock of 67 Cormorants to Middlebrook Lake, Bristol, Tennessee. One of the scoters was an adult male and an absolute beautiful bird to see at very close range. The raft of Double-creasted Cormorants left around 11 a.m. but at least one of the birds which has been there most of this fall season did not go with them. They circled serveral times and headed south. The Hooded Merganser count was 64 and four Gadwall were with them. Jeff Larsen called to report that the Common Loon was still at the VA Center pond and it evidently scared away a small flock of Bufflehead while he was watching. Conditions are good out there. Keep your eyes open and get afield. Let's go birding.....
