Hello Bristol Birders =20 For the past two evenings I have observed a Great Horned Owl by the old = golf club house. This beautiful specimen has allowed close range looks = to myself and family. My daughters were able to get great looks and add = a life bird to their list! Last night (8-23-02) we also saw for the first time in the park a group = of (5) Common Nighthawks flying along the ridge from HWY 126 in = Blountville. Later, while getting (neck breaking) inconclusive looks at = what may have been Pine Warblers by the Nature Center a single Common = Nighthawk gave us the pleasure of a flyover! I also added a life bird this morning as I finally got close range and = extended views of the Pine Warbler. I believe I first saw these birds = just before our BBC mtg. at the Park Conference Room but came just shy = of getting enough marks on a single bird to feel comfortable in claiming = a lifer. Also, this morning there was a nice Spotted Sandpiper in winter = plumage along the beach and a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher by the Nature = Center.=20 'Til we bird again Rack Cross Blountville, TN ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
