I checked on the Red-shouldered Hawk nest along the greenbelt in Kingsport this morning. Three well-feathered young were standing along the edge of the nest. All were excercising their wings and one bird flew briefly up to another branch and back to the nest. They look like they will leave the nest soon. Both adults were present and bringing food to the nest. I took a number of photos and have forwarded a photo to Wallace Coffey to post on the Bristol Bird Club web site or you can view it at this link http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/phoxinus02/detail?.dir=/15cb&.dnm=9230.jpg. Also near the hawk nest were two Red-bellied Woodpeckers feeding noisy young in a nest found earlier by Bill Grisgsby and Great-crested Flycatcher singing.
