[Bristol-Birds] Hunters take on The Cove field trip in Tazwell Co and then BBC picnic

One of the very nice features of the Bristol Bird Club annual summer

picnic at Steele Creek Park Saturday, 7 June 2014, was having a 

 significant number of birders on hand who are enduring

serious illnesses.  None of them were expected to attend the event.

 

Former BBC President Dave Worley, Fred Martin, Charlie Powell and

Tom Hunter were in that group.

 

Hunter was especially impressive since he went birding earlier

Saturday morning with the Russell County Bird Club on a field trip

to The Cove section of Tazewell County, VA before traveling more

than 50 miles to the picnic with his wife Laverne.

 

Hunter reported The Cove trip had some very good birds.

 

Among the list of species reported from that trip were

 

Red-headed Woodpecker 1

  Willow Flycatcher 4

  Blue-winged Warbler 1

  Kentucky Warbler 1

  Blue Grosbeak 1

  Bobolink 6
