The May meeting of the Herndon Bird Club will be this Tuesday, May 3, at
7:00 a.m. at the Science Building at Milligan College. To get there,
come up the entry road into Milligan College, turn right just past the
Gregory Center (on the right) into the parking lot. The Science
Building is straight ahead as you come into the parking lot. The
meeting will be in a room on the right just as you enter the Science
Building.
Agenda items include report on the field trip to the 7 Islands State
Birding Park, report on the Roan Mountain Spring Naturalist Rally field
trips, planning of field trips for May, discussion (and possible
planning) of the June summer single county counts (the first weekend of
June is before our June meeting), nomination committee report, and
compilation of the observations of the Spring 5-County Count (Saturday,
April 30).
The program presentation will be given by club members Paul and Emily
Bayes entitled: "Birds of Texas--Mostly Rio Grande Valley"
After the meeting, interested members will go to the Green Pines Baptist
Church parking lot on Toll Branch Rd. south of Milligan College to
listen for Chuck-will's-widows.
Prior to the meeting, those interested will meet for dinner and
socializing at 5:30 p.m. at the Smokehouse BBQ on Hwy 359 Milligan
Hwy. Going from Johnson City or from Elizabethton on U. S. Hwy 321,
turn off (north) on Hwy 359 and follow Hwy 359--the Smokehouse BBQ will
be on your right almost immediately.
ALL ARE INVITED to the MEETING AND TO the Smokehouse BBQ for dinner
