*Glade Spring CBC Report-December 27, 2019*
The Glade Spring CBC was held on Thursday, December 27, 2019. The
weather, like last year, was relatively cold early in the morning but
milder in the afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and calm conditions.
The low was 33 degrees Fahrenheit and the high was 57 degrees.
Twenty eightvolunteers counted *75 species and 7,909 individuals
birds.*There were no new species found. Record high counts were tied for
Robins, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and Common Mergansers (seen for the
4^th time in a row). And for the 5^th time, Virginia Rails were observed
at the Saltville ponds. The count for the Dark-eyed Junco(26)tied a
record low.Notable finds include Bald Eagle (4), Loggerhead Shrike (2),
Brown Creeper (2), House Wren (3), Winter Wren (3),Hermit Thrush (2),
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (3), Brown Thrasher (1), Palm Warbler(1), Virginia
Rail (4), Eurasian-Collard Dove (5) Red-headed Woodpecker (2), Barred
Owl (1), and Yellow-rumped Warbler(21).
