29 Sep 2010 Upper Douglas Lake, Cocke Co., TN Most of Rankin Bottoms is now high & dry, now that the lake has fallen to about 975 ft. Only the lower end still has any mud flat. Most of the birds have moved just downstream to the Ten Islands section of the lake. Michael Sledjeski & I checked this area by motorized canoe. This area is very difficult to access by land. Some gulls, egrets, etc were also seen in the Dutch Bottoms section (downstream from Walters Bridge on hwy 25-E). FRANKLIN'S GULL - 4 imm Laughing Gull - 5 imm Ring-billed Gull - 100+ Com.
