On Thursday, 8/29/02, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, Rick Knight and I were at Musick's
Campground on South Holston Lake in Sullivan County, TN. We found 3 adult
(breeding plumage with some molting) Eared Grebes. They swam from the TN side
into the VA side then back into TN.

The Great White Heron was still there. A Caspian Tern was putting on a nice
show for us. We also had good looks at an adult Bald Eagle.

An unusual August record of American Black Duck helped to keep things rolling.
50+ Common Nighthawks also added to the enjoyable outing. Rick was delighted
just to see trees and blue skies after having spent the last four months on an
island in the Bering Sea. We'll hear all about that at an upcoming BBC program.
