Folks, Being a beautiful day, couldn't pass up an opportunity to go to Burkes Garden. Snow from the other day still rings the mountains but the valley is clear. With mostly sunny skies and temps in the mid 40s, it was a great day for raptors as follows: a.. 14 Red-Tailed Hawks - inclusive of 3 pairs b.. 4 American Kestrels c.. 3 Rough-Legged Hawks d.. 1 Golden Eagle (2nd year) Although the birding was great, photo ops were challenging due to the sun's position and distance in relation to the birds. However, a few photos were added to my gallery at: http://www.pbase.com/rkretz/recent_photos if you'd like to see them. Enjoy the birds... Richard Kretz Elk Garden, Russell Co., VA
