Area Birders, Saturday, 2/12/05, the Buchanan County Bird Club birded Burkes Garden along with the New River Valley Bird Club and the Bristol Bird Club. In spite of the cutting wind and low temperatures during the morning, the sun shone, which helped with the viewing of the winter resident Golden Eagles and Rough-legged Hawks, which were two of the species we were hoping to see there. Red-tailed Hawks were on the move with 6 being observed in the air at one time. Red-headed Woodpeckers and Ravens were also active with several Red-heads giving good views and photo opportunities. Fox Squirrels and White-tailed Deer were seen often. The deer were clearing high fences with ease, except for one, that seemed too afraid to try. It was a good day for birding and for camraderie with birders of other clubs. I took several photos and they can be seen at http://users.mikrotec.com/mayhorn/BIMG/BurkesGarP.htm Enjoy the birds, Roger Mayhorn Buchanan County Bird Club Grundy, VA ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST Bristol Birds Net Photo Gallery located at: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jwcoffeyy/album?.dir=/efd5 This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. -------------------------------------------------- You are subscribed to Bristol-Birds.
