the appostrophe will always do it. I have used file names of varying numbers of words and length. ----- Original Message ----- From: "maithe007" <maithe007@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

All of my file names had the RTF ending. I think it was a combination of spaces between the words and the ' I used.Maithe----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>To: <bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 5:28 PM Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: problems with submissions-large volumeAnd the file name has to have the right extension, too, i.e. dotrtf after the name. That was what I didn't reason when I first started to submit. Cindy --- maithe007 <maithe007@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Oops...forgot...I save them all as RTF. Definitely has to be the file names. *L* Maithe----- Original Message ----- From: Monica WillyardTo: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 7:11 AM Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: problems with submissions-large volume Hi, Maithe. I have a couple of questions that might help get your books submitted. First, are you getting a certain error message when you try to submit? When you're on a page where your file won't submit, you can use your screenreader to look for the word error on the page so you can see what's going on. From the top of the page, press control f and type in the word error. Hit enter and see what you find. If that just reads the blurb at the top of the page, press f3 to find the next instance of the word error. That should help you find an actual error message. Next, do your file names have any spaces or apostrophes in them? If so, the Bookshare tools won't take them. I use an underscore character instead of spaces in my file names. A sample file name looks like this. wedding_day_murder.rtf Finally, what format is the file you're submitting? If they are ark files, you may have an issue where the file is so big that it times out. To avoid this, I save my files as rtf, zip them, and submit that zipped file. The zipping part isn't something people mention very often, but it does speed up the submission process. The Bookshare tools can process your zipped file and put it where it needs to be on step 1. I hope something in this message helps you. If not, I urge you to contact John Glass at support@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for specific help. John is a truly nice person, and he's good at troubleshooting problems without making a person feel silly for not knowing what's wrong. He's been helping me out of scrapes since the early nineties when he worked for Arkenstone, and Bookshare is blessed to have him on our team.
