I believe the numbering convention at the end of the filename was added to
handle duplicate filenames. Remember, lots of books have the same title, and
that, plus rescans, makes it possible for Bookshare to receive the same
filename more than once.

  Hi Shannon,

Removing the BSO from the filename would be a good idea. Unfortunately
though, the filenames are generated before the administrator can remove BSO
from the title of the book. Since that's where the filenames come from...well
we're out of luck in the immediate future, I think.

The f1 I believe, stands for file 1. I'm not sure if the programmers thought
there might be f2, f3, someday or not. It's just one of those things that was
done when the site was created, and is bound to bother subscribers til the end
of time, grin.

    Hahahahahahheeee

    Patti,

    I know what you mean.

I some times download a few at a time and then have to try to remember the
whole title and who wrote them to put them in the proper places.

    Kellie,

You have a point about just the simple BS as a title beginner. Grin Nope
not such a good idea. I just wonder why they don't just take that part off when
it gets re added to the collection?

I turn alot of my books into MP3 files and when I do so I have to
abbreviate the titles so that the track numbers will show up on my DVD on
screen display. other wise I might have 115 tracks but have no way of knowing
which track is currently playing to return to continue listening..

Some times what should appear to soooo simple is just a twist to the
difficult side. Smile

Does anyone know what the F1 thing is about?

    Shannon

Sometimes the titles in the save as page aren't even complete. If you
have brain fades like I do, by the time you pick a book, open it, put in your
password, if the title of the book is cut off at the end I don't remember the
rest of it, grin and have to make up something!@ Help!

      I know, I'm gettin' old.
