Hi Patti. I know this is a new way of doing things, and it can seem awkward at first if you're not used to it. Like you, I had my browser set up for the old site to unpack files when I downloaded my books. You can set your browser up to open zip files in the same way if you like and can just tell your zip program where to extract the files. It'll just ask for your password and let you go on doing whatever you're working on. If you choose to try them, there are several tools for making working with zipped files easier. Many tools are completely free and work well with speech and Braille displays. If you use a free program like 7-zip or Iceows, you can press the applications key on a file in you're my Computer window and choose to extract the brf file. It'll let you extract that file to the folder you're in or choose a different folder to put the file in. You can also use these programs to create a separate folder for each book you download if you like to organize books by title. Using zip format gives Bookshare users more flexibility to use their files when and where they like. So although it's a definite change, you might grow to like it over time. I hope so. I think we used to ages ago when the site was brand new. Or when they were text files, way back when. but later on, I never had to. I used to just open them to bypass the unpacking of them later. So I'd ask to open the file, then hit the unpack button, enter my password, save the book and I was done. Now, I have to Save the dang thing, then unzip it. An extra step I didn't have to do before. Is this for security reasons or something? just wondering. Patti The average dog is a nicer person than the average person Andy Rooney
