Hi. With Openbook 7, if you're scanning a normal book, turning off the setting that says language analyst and another setting called white on black can both improve the OCR of your scans and speed them up. I have found that turning off the despeckle option helps a lot too unless you're scanning something that's been typed on a typewriter or a newspaper. For most books, these are settings that produce consistent clear scans without introducing a lot of stray characters. Mass market paperbacks sometimes also require you to change the contrast to lighten page. I hope some of this helps you.
