I may be wrong, but I think Lena teaches younger
grades--but definitely reading, and with difficult
children. She inspires them wonderfully, and some of
her students are, indeed, now in either high school or
junior high and doing very well. She's sent me some of
their writing and I respond and we've come to know
each other, i.e., the children and I. They love
getting positive feedback from a friend of their
teacher's--someone outside of the school--a
grown-up--and even when they're not in her class any
more, and they see her, they tell her to send me their
regards and tell me what they're doing. Lena is a gem!
