Not only that, but (and I will comment later on the site) but I'd hate to
get back to the days where we had to research, get permission, etc. to
record a book. I appreciate those days being, I hope, forever over. I'd hate
to have to see Bookshare, and RFB&D have to go back to writing for
permission, researching for copies elsewhere etc. I think the amendment is
better the way it is now!

Well, I think she was wondering why you were doing this project but I can't
speak to that. I've not had time to read your blog, but I am wondering if
you
are going to try to get enough changes made that the Congress might want to
tamper with the amendment and weaken it further than you believe it already
is. It seems to be serving a very good purpose. I will have to take more
time
to look, of course, but people were wondering what makes you so deeply
interested in this, especially if you are not qualified to use this system.
What motivates your desire to have the changes made? I guess that last would
really be my biggest question. Are you a professor? Do you work for the
government? I really don't want to offend, but you did sort of visit out of
the blue with this, and our consumer organizations are often on top of such
things. Is there something going on in Congress that would make you think we
need change? Right now there is a big issue going on in Congress concerning
financing the upgrading of the Talking Books to digital, and that is pretty
much hanging by a thread. Would we want to messwith this before we can see
to
that funding being in place?
