Fiction Old and New description:
The book is based on the real life Mary Bowser who was born a slave, went to
Philadelphia to be educated after she and her mother were freed, and then
served as a spy in the Confederate White House during the Civil War. This
is a book which reaches across genres with its adventure, family, romance
