A beta version is one which is still being tested for bugs.  Unless you
really need it, you're not supposed to install it because if something goes
wrong, there's no tech support offered.  Unless you have a desperate need
for translator software right now, wait until the final release is
announced.  I hope this has helped.

Would you please explain what a beta version is and how you know if it is
necessary for your Book Port.
 
I believe it has something to do with the version number, but I lost the
email that explains this.
