Hi Sharon,
I'm unsubscribing from this list, but thought I might be able to help you. Each of the contacts is opposite the corresponding Plus and Minus signs, raised slightly so one can tell which way each battery goes in. With the battery terminal facing the appropriate sign, just push gently against the spring at the other end of the battery, and they should each slip in smoothly. Don't try to get them in from the contact end, as you'll run the risk of bending the contacts and making the unit potentially useless if batteries no longer work.

I hope this helps you; I'm sure there are others on the list who will be able to give you any necessary further support.

Take care, and enjoy your Bookport: I really appreciate mine, and love the versatility of the file types it will work with.

All best,
Beth
