Thanks for your reply.  If I did, I had no idea, but I'm glad I thought to

  Did you possibly select that xml file when you told bp to transfer files?

    Hello Listers,
    I listened to my files on the Book Port and found that I had a strange .xml 
file, so I deleted it and that seems to have solved the problem.  <huge sighh 
of relief> I have no idea how it got there.  I'm just glad it wasn't hidden 
amongst folders.  Of course, I haven't created any yet--thank heavens.  <grin>
